The Art of 0.01mm: Kezurou-kai 2026 in Miki—Japan’s City of Hardware Mastering the Japanese Plane

June 2026 | The Ultimate Craftsmanship Experience

The 42nd National KEZUROU-KAI in Miki
— Witness the Peak of Japanese Woodworking —

Welcome to “Miki Pedal”!
In 2026, Miki City will host Japan’s most prestigious competition for master woodworkers. If you love Japanese tools and traditional crafts, this is the event of a lifetime.

What is “KEZUROU-KAI”?

Kezurou-kai is a national competition where artisans compete to shave the thinnest, most beautiful wood shavings using a Kanna (Japanese hand plane). It’s not just a contest; it’s a celebration of the “Spirit of the Tool.”

Precision beyond imagination

Under 0.01mm

Experience wood shavings so thin they are literally transparent—like silk floating in the air.

Why Miki City? The City of Hardware

🔨 The Blacksmith Legacy

Miki is the oldest “Hardware Town” in Japan. The world-class blades used by these masters are forged right here by local blacksmiths. It’s the perfect synergy of tool-making and tool-using.

🔥 “Kaji-desse!” Expo

Simultaneously, the Miki Hardware Expo will be held. Meet the blacksmiths, buy authentic Japanese knives and tools directly from the makers, and see live forging demonstrations!
