A Final Word: On Skateboarding Culture and Roots

Skateboarding is more than just a sport; it evolved as a unique “street culture.” At its core, it is about expressing your personal style, and historically, “skating without a helmet” was respected as part of that raw street aesthetic.

In some videos, you might see skaters without helmets for this very reason. However, as skateboarding grows as an Olympic sport and we strive to maintain “public facilities” where everyone can play safely, common rules are essential.

At Miki Park, wearing a helmet is a mandatory rule. Following this rule isn’t just about compliance—it’s a way for us to protect this amazing environment and pass it on to the next generation. We hope you enjoy the culture of Miki while staying safe!
